Memories That Define Us: Gratitude for My Mother
This picture is a cherished snapshot of a time when I was just a young kid. A time when I faced an unexpected turn in #life that forever shaped who I am today.
In the midst of my school years, I had to leap from 8th to 10th standard, not out of choice, but out of necessity. It was a challenging time marked by my maa's deteriorating health. I can still vividly recall the days when I balanced my studies with taking care of her at home. It wasn't easy; the struggle was real. I managed to study, but it took a toll, particularly on my mathematics grades. I failed, and the thought of telling my maa that I'd faltered was embarrassing and disheartening.
Little did I know that she held the most profound wisdom and love. In her infinite understanding, my maa told me not to dwell on the failure, but to focus on what I had learned. She said that life sometimes takes us on unexpected detours, and the journey itself is a teacher.
Unfortunately, she wasn't there to witness my journey to redemption when I cleared that math hurdle in supplementary exams. And yet, her words and her spirit were with me every step of the way.
Every person we encounter leaves a mark on our lives, but for me, it's my parents who have been the unwavering pillars of strength. During my maa's illness, most of my days were spent in the hospital ward. My father, a dedicated teacher at a private school, was tirelessly working to earn money for her treatment. He would work half the day, then come back home to prepare food for us and rush to the hospital.
We had to navigate the complexities of a government hospital on our own.
